Problem to Establish Autopilot Link

First of all, a big ThX to you holding onto the great project and handing us nostalgic elders a very precious gift.

Also, I have a colleague trained in audio & music production (mix and so on...) which is interested in helping you with the German Conversion. How exactly shall he contact you?

Now, finally to my question:

I downloaded tonight - oh how I laughed when exactly at 1900 you server broke down - installed and after three reboots (crappy Win7 Pro 64 bit) I finally managed to start a campaign and start flying (Training Campaigns...)

But at the beginning of the second mission, I need to link the Autopilot with the Transporter I'm supposed to escort.
I have him in my Alt+E-List, targeted and am flying in close proximity (between 950 and 100 clicks).

It simply won't Establish the Link. Googling does not give me a proper answer.
What am I doing wrong?
Or is it a bug alright?

Which mission?

Are you flying in proximity of the right ship (Aurora)? The link message should trigger immediately when you get in close to that ship.

Although it probably isn't necessary, try targeting the ship, then fly up close to it.
