Invert Y-Axis Mouse

How can I use inverted mouse controls like in Prologue and Freespace 2? I tried to check the invert box in the options screen for the Y-Axis Pitch, but it didn't change anything.

Thank you for answering my question. I decided playing WCS splitting commands between the gamepad and keyboard. It works quite well.

I tried playing with the mouse, but my brain doesn't accept playing a flight/space simulator with FPS controls.
