does wcsaga have beams?

just curious but i was wondering can ships in wcsaga be modded to mount beam weapons like in FS2?
(this is not an allusion to any thing that i may or may not be working on now or in the future or a confirmation that i am working on anything at all)

Beam weapons like in FS2 or Babylon 5 are not common in the Wing Commander universe. Wing Commander uses more the Star Wars-like blaster shots.
The only one I've ever seen in the WC universe as far as I remember was the Behemoth during the cutscene where it is shown firing.

what i mean is if i wanted to crack open the modding tools to equip a thunderbolt with a beam weapon who's charge up and discharge are synced up with the nyan cat song. would i be able to do that?

You'd be able to. But well... you are also able to hug a wild bear and you don't do it because it isn't desirable, you know...
