Hyperion Mission 4 *spoilers* was created by Brakiri
Hi,

i would like to make a suggestion, maybe for a later update.

The 4th mission in the Hyperion system is a little bit maddening.
The first 2 or 3 waves of enemies are ok. They can be contained while taking a view capship missile hits from the huge amount of bombers the makers of WCSaga are throwing at us.

But i see a problem in the mission design itself, because the mission is very long and at the end the makers not only throw another bulk of bombers at the fleet, they also put in a lot of capship missiles. It seems nearly impossible to destroy every capmissile by myself. The other pilots are very ineffective in gunning down those missiles, so i'm practically alone (with the turrets).

So if you were unable to prevent a few missile hits on the first waves, it's very hard not to lose any capital ship at the end.
So the mission ends with a failure and i can try this whole looong f****** mission again.

I my opinion it would be far better to include less enemy fighters in the first wave and exchange them for missiles. But including them in the last wave and you miss a few, it invalidates everything you did up to this point, and you can play this whole mission again. If you fail at the beginning, that's ok, you can try again, but replaying 45 minutes just because you missed one or 2 missiles at the end, is just annoying.

I tried three times and i stopped playing. The problem really lies with the capship missiles. I stacked up nearly 40 kills in the first waves, but the missiles always break my neck.
For now i won't waste any more time on this mission, it's just not fun.

If there is a way to skip this mission, this info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

PS: I don't want to come across as a unthankful crybaby, so i would like to include a big thank you for the developers as well. The game was a lot of fun(up to this point). I like the briefings, and the radiochatter is very well done. I also like the speakers. From a technical standpoint the game was flawless so far. There is one thing though which i really miss. The scenes in the bar and on the ship. I know its hard to make videos like this, but you could have used the briefing-characterdesign for these scenes.
I really miss the bar-scenes and the talks/scenes on the ship itself.
Without some interaction on the ship, the game feels like a mission pack, and not like a full WC-game.
But that's the only complaint" i have. The rest is very well done.
Thank you again!

Fail it 5 times and you will be given the opportunity to skip it.

Or just lower the difficulty. Honestly, it is very hard to lose either the Armageddon or more than 5 escort ships if you are utilizing the Excalibur to its fullest potential. Any other outcome does not count as a failure.

I am also currently at that mission.

First i lost 3 Ships and i got that "we lost a lot of people because we didnt do our job" talk and i understood him, so i tried again and this time i just lost 1 ship close to the end and i got the same complain from my Wing Leader. Now that i personaly find odd in that mission.

I mean we are at war, till this point in the game we lost already about what 20+ Capital Ships (counting does against the player could do nothing about), and now that guy complains to me about not doing my job because at a head on attack on a Kilrathi fortified planet, who throw tons of bombers (the ratio between enemy bombers and enemy fighters isnt really fun in that mission, but oh well) and anti capital missles at us, we lose 1 ship??? What does that guy expect? if all strikes would go like this than we would not be loosing the war. :)
Considering the situation i would say the pilots have done a awesome job that only 1 ship was destroyed. Normaly the whole fleet had should been pulverized.
At this outcome, losing 1 ship, he should have more said something like "its a shame about the 1 ship that was lost, but thanks to you all this day didnt see more casulties"

Just my opinion.

You are a member of an elite squadron. You are supposed to perform above and beyond the call of duty. ;)

Well yup you can answer like this, but thats a point of view.

If i look at that mission than it took an elite squadron to get all but 1 ship through this attack, with a normal squadron the whole fleet had been destroyed. :)

Its simply in the eye of the beholder :)

PS:
now on the third run i finally get it Colonel House  , someone a Dr. House fan hu? Now that guy finally makes sense.

Hehe. Keep in mind though that you don't have to win every mission. ;)

This is a tough mission to win, mainly because we had to make sure that both losing paths work, e.g. destruction of six escorts or desrtuction of the TCS Armagedon. So yeah.... good luck.

Not that it will make you feel better, but the number of different "debriefing" paths for a given mission is pretty limited. Trying to make fine-grained distinctions between what they say when X ships are lost just would have been too much work. Generally, there are at most 3 endings for each mission: "perfect victory", "partial victory", and "failure". Some missions don't have a "partial victory" path, but I don't think any mission has more than those three outcomes. So, you know, try not to take it personally ;)
