Sabers, really? Spoilers was created by Darpaek
[spoiler:2b2kff98]It's the mission after the Behemoth and our fighter crews are toast and all our pilots are in Medical. And during the briefing, the Colonel dude is like, "You'll be reinforcing where needed. Since you're the last two Mudhens alive and we're underequipped, you're gonna get a special ship from the station."

So I was all excited. I was like, "Yay! It's about time I got my Excalibur!!!"

No, no, no. I get a Saber. They already call me Dorothy! I'm never gonna live this down!

BTW - whoever did the Saber did a really good job. It "felt" substantially different than a WC3 fighter. It really felt like a WC2 Saber.[/spoiler:2b2kff98]

[spoiler:3816mtvl]I like the Sabre : it has good handling, good amount of missiles and my prefered primary weapon since WCII, the mass driver.
The only but big trouble with the sabre is it's terribly weak shields. So I select only the mass driver as primary weapon and give only one power unit to the guns and the rest to the shields.[/spoiler:3816mtvl]

"When all else fails, read the instructions."
Config : Core i7 2600K - 8Go - nVidia GTX580 - Creative SB X-Fi - Logitech G5 - Win7 Pro x64

I like the Sabers. Especially the gut-wrenching sound of the mass-drivers. <sigh> if only we could have the Stormfire from WCIV, that would be nice. Very old-school with the missile placements. I approve!

Would I get the stink eye if I said I'd have loved to have seen a Bengal-class carrier show up, or see one of the backwater stations flying Raptors or even Scimitars? Maybe it's just that I'm partial to the first game's tech and all, but eh. I miss the old pre-ITTS ships

One of the skills that I (and probably so many others) developed from Wing Commander 1 was eyeballing the lead on the target. Figuring out where your guns are going to shoot without a lead pipper or target lock... Many times I've found myself tracking a fighter in a turn, gun him down, and then immediately roll onto another that carelessly wandered into my field of view, firing off a few salvos from the guns and watching him burn with no warning from the target lock. The ITTS is great, but if you can't do it without the computer help, you ain't got the skills you think you do.
