Mouse control out of control

Hi,

first of all, thanks for spending so much time and effort to create this game. I have been a Wing Commander since the very first beginning and I am sure I will enjoy the game.

If only I could play it.

Due to lack of a Windows operation system I run this game through wine (1.5) on a gentoo box. It runs smooth and after disabling the compositing effects, the mouse cursor is not sluggish anymore. But the mouse behaves still very weirdly. If it gets near the right or bottom border, it accelerates very quickly and snaps to the border. This makes the game nearly unplayable, as I could hardly steer straight forward. If I am back in X11, the mouse behaves normal again.

I tried several settings of this mysterious 'deadzone' thing and apparently it changed something, but it did not solve the problem.

Is there anything else I could try?

Wow, you guys are fast. Sorry, I forgot to tell you that I already installed the new patch.

Well, I played a lot with these settings. But while they definitely have an impact on the mouse control, the do not eliminate the snapping. If I move the cursor veeery slowly, I can avoid the snapping, but this is not a realistic szenario for gameplay.

Changing to FS mouse mode didn't change it either.

It is apparently a combined XServer/Wine problem. There is already a new patch for X, but I don't know when it will be delivered to distros.

Well, I don't have got anything like that at the moment. But as I am on Gentoo, applying patches is not very tricky. I will try this patch and let you and other users know.
