Confederation Class

I just finished the proxima missions. I had thought the TCS Concordia was the only Confederation class ever built. Or was it the only one to have a PTC installed on it? And the TCS Armageddon is just another Confederation class.

Well, I don't have time to read through the entire article on WCpedia, but it seemed to be saying that the Concordia was just the leading ship of its class, rather than a one-of-a-kind warship.

There are some more Confederation-class Dreadnoughts. All of them originally had the PTC, but it was removed from all of them because of the problems it caused.

Problems? You mean like drawing whole fleets of Kilrathi warships into battle and blowing them out of the skies? didn't know that was a problem..

I think the main problem was the kitties needed a reason not to have been wiped out by a fleet of super powerful Dreadnoughts before the next game. In any case, here is what WCpedia has to say on the matter.

The only flaws associated with the vessel was the massive power drain caused by the Phase-Transit Cannon on the vessel's power plant and the vulnerability of its hangar bays to enemy attack. The Phase-Transit Cannon drained so much of the dreadnought's energy in one shot that too many firing attempts within a given time frame could potentially overload the reactor and destroy the vessel. Additionally, the hangar bays of the Confederation-Class were easy targets for missile attacks by the Kilrathi, which often put the vessel's fighter launch capabilities out of commission until repairs were made, endangering the ship in the midst of a battle.
