Great mission with lots of ships to kill. Nice to be labeled the Knights of Hyperion. I didn't have any issues with this mission of a first run.

Been through this a couple of times. Here's some feedback. General feeling is that this mission is a nice breather from the last one... except things get out of hand by the end of the mission and on the first play through I was desperately low on missiles by the time things got interesting 😊

At Nav 1 we waxed the fighters easily. McFaul wasn't a lot of help here as it appears to be stationary. The first play through it was in firing range but the second time through I disabled the Kilrathi destroyer and McFaul never reached gunnery range.

Nav 2 I had no problems with. This is a bit more of an exciting match with the cruisers doing an old school fight. I felt important in the battle by picking off the heavy guns and weakening shields on the cruisers. Without the players intervention one or both friendly ships could have been lost.

At Nav 3 the Perseus took a lot of damage from the heavy destroyer before we took her down. If I was smarter I would have gone after the heavy destroyer first as it's the greater threat. No issues here. Picked off a lot of Dralthi when I had the chance... but they were doing a decent job of defending despite the low numbers.

No issues at Nav 4. Fralath gets whupped fairly quickly after the fighters.

Nav 5 is hilarious as usual with House... I mean MD flying 😊 One of the lines does seem to sound like a different actor. I'll have to review the sound file when I get a chance. Biggest complaint is that the Armagedddon is not in range of the carrier when the open fire order is given so it's less dramatic than it could be. The "world end is both cheesy and ironic... I laughed 😊 Keep it 😊

Then the transition to Nav 6... great Firefly reference 😊 But the tension ratchets up quickly. THis is where on the first breakthrough I wish I had kept my missiles. Some of the fighters are very intent on destroying the Hermes which makes them easier to pick off. It gets a bit "slow" with all of the waves of fighters but things get interesting with the Strakha's and it wraps up in a good ending.

"Knights of Hyperion" indeed 😊

Spoiler (click to reveal)At the Hermes Nav Point, I wasn't sure if I was going to survive. I also hoped that the Wrathgar would have a Reactor Breach. No issues yet.

Keep in mind, that this mission features losing paths as well. One options is that the Hermes bites the dust. Another: any capital ship is destroyed.

Played this mission twice today at easy difficulty (bought a farm at first try during Hermes defense - took too many missiles up my ass at once I suppose 😡 ). A lot of interesting stuff is going on at the end of the mission. Liked the conversation between Deathfang and Venom. Btw 84 kills on this one. I think I should get bunch of medals for this 😁 . Gonna try different outcomes later, now on to Hyperion 6.

This mission was very nice indeed; the conversation between Venom and Deathfang, aces of both sides who know each other, was a highlight for me. It gave me a more intense right-in-the-middle feeling than the usual missions. The soundtrack and the huge battles in the Hyperion system are intensifying that experience.

The destruction of the Hermes ends the mission and this path has the correct debriefing. The destruction of the McFaul accesses the other losing path and debriefing. One small issue: "Command" instead of "Venom" http://mantis.wcsaga.com/view.php?id=997
