Cairo 2
Please post your after-action reports here.
-Co-Briefing: "Inthe Processing" instead of "in the Process" Ticket 719 -"Destroy all remaining forces"-Objective completed when 2 Dralthis were still alive Ticket 720 I've even played this one on easy.

Also, just on a side note, it would be a good idea to hide yourself in the Base's Hangar Bay if you're too damaged until your shields have regenerated

What a great mission! I witnessed one epic moment, during my attack on the Dry Dock when the Light Destroyer started to power up I send it one torpedo and after pulling up and checking my six (to see if torpedo hit the target) I saw 2 Darkets or Dralthis (they were far away and thus hard to recognize) just flying out of Dry Dock's hangar bay passing the now exploding Light Destroyer and getting cought into the blast spreading cats fur all over the space 😂 Pretty amazing view!
Very nice mission!

A few more details would be nice.

I like the part where thing happened with the other thing. Which then exploded.
In other words: Spoiler (click to reveal)
The detail on that drydock was quite amazing. Loved the transports that were just sitting there. I've not tried blowing them up seperately though. The destroyers sitting there twiddling their thumbs while I put a couple of linked torpedoes into the dry dock was quite a nice touch. I was about to fire my second salvo into the base when they started shooting at me. 😁
On medium difficulty: I changed the missile loadout to Spiculum IR only. After launch, all wings are flying in good formation. The Dralthi wing on the way to Nav 1 was quickly wiped out. Avatarr starts to drive me nuts 😊 It was nice to see the asteroid fighters again at Nav 1. I engage them and order my wingmen to do so. They are not a big challenge for the Longbows. Arriving at Nav 2 I concentrate on taking out the Sorthaks and Vaktoths. After the first wave is destroyed I call my wingmen back into formation and advance at top speed (without afterburners) towards base. That gives the Alpha wing enough time to destroy the two corvettes Before we can start the torpedo run, too many enemy fighters including Vaktoths attack us and we are ordered to take out the fighters first. I miss an order to continue the bombing run after the Vaktoths are gone. Anyway, I put shields on max power and start my run ordering my wingmen to attack the base. I manage to put 3 torps into it at the first run but have to break off to defend myself agains the damn Dralthis. I don't manage to shake them off in the Longbow so I call my wingmen for help. After that I try to take out as many fighters as possible but wave after wave launches from the base and the Ralarrad joins the battle. The Ralarrad is destroyed by Mastermind but the battle continues relative long against the fighters before any of the other bombers is able to deliver some torpedoes to the base. Sometimes it was frustrating to circle for minutes to get the Dralthi, that is attacking you, into your scopes without success and only calling your wingmen for help solved the problem. But on the other hand, those lighter fighters can simply outlfy the Longbow. It forces the player to use teamwork with the wingmen. Finally the base gets destroyed. Its big explosion takes out nearby fighters and all turret stations. I can see in the events log that the base kill is counted for me since I did most damage to it. One note here: In other runs I took out first the communication system of the base. This never has an impact on sending the distress call (because the following missions depend on it). Just wanted to note it. The remaining fighters are quickly destroyed once the base is gone.
After all enemies are destroyed, Foxtrott wing stays close to Bravo wing, following my direction. Two fighters of Foxtrott wing are very often colliding while flying next to me. They are too close to each other. When I land, they keep flying in formation with me and crash against the Hermes. I suggest they should stop flying in formation with me once we arrive at the Hermes Nav point. http://mantis.wcsaga.com/view.php?id=738
In overall a nice, big attack mission. Sometimes a bit long until the base finally gets destroyed.
Up front... this is a REALLY good mission. I've played it a couple of times and I haven't found any bugs so far. Looks really good.
At the first encounter with the Dralthi I just let the Hellcats take it. They managed to eliminate the Dralthi scouting wing without too much trouble. At Nav 1 in the asteroid field the asteroid fighters were a challenge but nothing we couldn't handle. I did break formation to engage these and used a few HS missiles to finish off a couple of kills. This goes pretty quickly too but it sets the mood quite well for the next waypoint.
Attacking the base is exhilarating and it always feels like Masterminds plan is in motion. I like the comms as he orders the fighters to engage and then later to regroup around the bomber strike. There was a bit of a delay between me putting my torpedoes into the base and the next bomber doing so. On my first play through I went straight in which was a bad idea... I had a dozen missiles coming at me and Dralthi swarming all around. I ran out of counter measures and died a horrible death that time. Second time I was smarter and stayed with the engagement... didn't go straight in until we were already there. The endless waves of fighters are a bit tricky to deal with but I managed to put my torpedoes in to the base and then focused on the fighters.
After the action ended it's pretty good to fully enjoy a victory now and again. Nav 3 was clear and it continues to set the mood right up to the return to the Hermes. Sometimes it's just a ship but on that mission it was really like coming home for some reason. It's a great build up raising the tension up to the base strike and then the come down from that as you rtb. I even did a victory roll past the Hermes bridge before landing.
I REALLY like this mission. It's everything that a big strike mission should be.
Ok, after watching a playthrough video I just have to ask this: Why on earth does nobody order their wingmen to attack the base but fly endlessly around wondering how to destroy the base?
Is it really that far off to give an attack order?
Well, if you read my post, I did 😊
Same here.

I've been meaning to go back and watch and see what they do when I do order them to attack... there was considerable delay. During the first couple of times as soon as my banks are empty I'm dedicated anti-fighter trying to protect my fellow Longbows. Is it really that far off to give an attack order?
There is some degree of unknowable variability in here given how many ships are involved. If the swarm moves away from the Longbows for a moment they may all launch in a short period of time and kill the base quickly. Or it could bog down for a while. Never had an impossible situation happen yet...
Awesome strike mission.
I had a Darket off at a distance of 300000+ after everything else was dead, flying away from us. One of the Hellcats eventually got it.

Guys, has anyone ran into any issues with this mission recently? Beta 14 should have rectified any possible issues with the mission flow, but it wouldn't hurt if you could give it another go.
I'm slowly but decisively getting there...

It happened more often that the base was blown up before I could fire my last torp... I can't reproduce or confirm an issue, but I'll keep an eye open everytime I replay that mission.
