One thing we should let you know... if you simply drop out of sight in here before the end... we may not feature you in the credits (depending on how much you contributed).

If you simply dissapear without telling us why, there is a good chance that you might now end up in the credits. We expect this game to have quite a number of downloads and showing up in the credits is also a recommendation to other projects like this. We will NOT recommend people to other projects that we couldn't count on. That would be unfair to those projects.

We always understand if something comes up and you don't have the time anymore. That happens to us as well. But please let us know this. Also let us know if at some point you might be able to contribute again. As long as you keep informing us about your status you can be sure that you will end up in the credits, it's that easy (unless you didn't really contribute anything but the invitation post of course).

Summary: Letting us know you're marrying, going on a vacation, buying a Hellcat V and just flying to Mars before you dissapoear -> Shows up in credits No fun anymore.. testing is work 😢.. no wanting to work ... vanishing,,, -> Doesn't show up in credits.

😉

I'm stressed with school so it's possible that I might disappear sometimes.

keldor tolwyn if you are there i have a litle treat for you 😊

Meaning... what? I won't say "no" to a cookie. 😊

oh 😊 well are you on teamspeak or ventrilo or anything?

Well, I didn't even know that you consider to make the testers a part of the credits 😊 I will do my best to help you guys finishing this great game, no matter if my name will be a part of the credits. I showed up so late because I just got back from vacation and did not have the possibility of checking my email-account...

Whenever I can, when I'm not at work, taking care of my nearly 2 year old son, taking the beating from my mistress about not spending enough time with her 😳 ... again, I'm trying to bring as much feedback about this awesome project to you guys, so if sometimes I'm absent I probably have more important things to do (after all the family comes first). But if I ever will going to quit on this you can be sure I'll inform you guys about it.

Wow....in the credits huh? I didn't know anything about that...lol. But all i have contributed is lame comments about user interface cosmetics anyway. But, it is kinda neat to think about being in the credits of the game.

tedder wrote:But all i have contributed is lame comments about user interface cosmetics anyway.

Well those "lame comments" made me re-do the entire interface font coloring 😉

KeldorKatarn"]

Which shows once again, that even small things matter as long as criticism is factual and precise. 😉

Currently I can mostly test at weekends. Last weekend I had my hands full with private stuff + 1st May. Haven't got a chance to play/test the current beta but I hope to be able to file some reports on Saturday & Sunday. Don't do it for my name being in the credits anyway.

Edit: Nvm, I'll start my first run through the missions right now.

At the moment the main problem I'm facing is that there is enough time to test but almost none to write some short reviews and statements. This is due to some unexpected events ( including a burial, a birth and a heartattack.. I guess thats life!) and loads of work. Fortunately I'm through with most of this stuff and now ready to take action again.

I have to agree that beta testing saga isn't about beeing mentioned in the credits. It's a honour to test such a masterpiece 😊

Going to resume writing to these forums later this evening...

I know you guys are not doing this for the credits, but it is well earned none the less. Your work is just as important as any voice actor's or composer's. Your feedback is vital to turn a dirty looking piece of glass like carbon into a diamond. 😉

Sorry I've been out of commission for the last couple of weeks. It's been...hectic to say the least. Catching up!

hey guys. reporting in once again. i had alot to do because of a chemistry exam. can start testing again now (:

Since I'm on holiday from the 3rd July to the 1st September, I don't know if I'll be able to test but I'll see what I can do. (I do have a Computer and Internet Access at my destination)

FekLeyrTarg wrote:Since I'm on holiday from the 3rd July to the 1st September, I don't know if I'll be able to test but I'll see what I can do. (I do have a Computer and Internet Access at my destination)

You are on holiday for TWO MONTHS... What kind of a job is that?

I'm still in school. We have 8 Weeks of holiday in Austria.

As you probably have noticed it came something up very unexpected and I haven´t been able to contribute almost anything for the last few weeks. This will probably be the case for at least the next 4 Weeks. After that it´s hard to say, but it may very well be that I´ll have time to test again.

Really sorry about that, I wanted to contribute so much more.

Thanks for informing us

Since my exams are moving close and close I have to learn more and might not be able to contribute too much in the next 4-5 weeks.

TParis wrote:Since my exams are moving close and close I have to learn more and might not be able to contribute too much in the next 4-5 weeks.

I'm ill, lying in bed; sorry guys. I hope I'll be better @ the end of the week.

Ready for action!

Summer is here which means I'm ridiculously busy with all of the weddings that go on during this season. So a little less available right now. Anything specific we/I should be looking into testing at this point. I am replaying the whole campaign right now... no further comments at the moment than what I've already posted on.

General balancing, is the tech-room updated correctly with new ships appearing in the campaign, does the campaign progress correctly, does it show the correct debriefings, geenral feedback on balancing and bugs as always.

i just returned from my vacation and i finished my semester at university. can i get a quick headsup? i downloaded a new release but im not sure if its the newest one? 😊 and what was that combination for the campaign room to branch up and let me reselect some older missions? <3

It was CTRL + SHIFT + S.

If you have Beta 0.9.4.5120 (Codename 'Proxima') then you have the newest one. We will release "Codename Loki" any day now though, but you can still test the new proxima missions already.

First-play-through-videos would be very welcome 😊

Is the video function a part of the game or do you need a seperate software pack?

Separate. The engine doesn't support recording videos. Ask the other folks here for good software to do this (nightmare did several for us, so did radarhead)

I recommend FRAPS for this job.

FekLeyrTarg wrote:I recommend FRAPS for this job.
The problem with fraps is, that there are limitations to the free version... Are there any similar tools?

Xfire can record videos too but you would have to write some stuff into an ini to make Xfire detect WCS. Fraps fits the job best in my eyes (I have a license for the full version).

Old show-off 😊

Stinger"] 😂

Family and work troubles have a fun way of coinciding! 😂 I've been working on getting video of my first playthroughs and impressions of the most recent batch of missions, will have those up and available for (private) viewing in the near future.

I just wanted to inform you that I'll be around less frequently for the next 2-3 weeks. However I'll try to be around as often as I'm able to.

Uploading. Expect download links in 5-6 hours.

Progress going faster 😊 Does it mean we have perhabs release this year? ^^

You don't really expect any answer do you?

Returning to duty!

Welcome back

Okay, here's my real return. I now have my semester break and had to take care of some stuff last week. So, here I am. 😉

yes, semester break is an awesome thing 😁

Myself and my computer are full ready to go. 😊 Just waiting on Beta 7.

It's coming up 😊

Should be available in an hour or so.

Been busy with a wedding (still not mine) and family stuff the last couple of weeks. Monday is a holiday so maybe some time to play soon. I see there is a new beta!

STill gotta uplaod those videos. X_X Well, gotta check some apartments in the next couple of days, so im pretty much unavailable.

Things are a bit quieter now so I'll be back on testing shortly. I have been playing a little bit but not noticing much new at this point. I'll keep an eye out.

Things have not calmed down on my side. I just got the PM, that my contribution on the forum is not satisfactory, and I completely understand that. I will have the opportunity to test again in mid-september if ever. Not before.

If that is too long I have no problem with and can perfectly understand if you exclude me from the beta. As posted in one of my earlier posts, I´m very upset about my lack of time, but sadly I cannot change it. For the next 3 Weeks I cannot even get to my personal PC 😢

Ok, i got the e-mail, i'll start with it again as soon as i can. Life keeps getting in the way, i had both my parents with health issues, and my studies aren't getting any easier. Anyway, i¡ll do the best i can.

Dammit, that stupid real-life is keeping me away from my PC 😡 However, I'll be able to continue testing today, I'm looking forward to finally playing the new missions 😁

I have been having bad insomnia the past week and so my brain has been a bit out of it. I think I have in under control now so I should have some more comments on beta in the coming week.

Haven't even been home to test much... I downloaded the latest and flew around Torgo base (stunning...truly!). That's all I've had time for so far. Next week things will be calmer.

I'm being bombarded with phone calls since I'm trying to get somebody to take over my room. Damn, I never got so many calls in my entire life. X_X

I'm currently on a play-through on hard. I hope to get to the Torgo-missions soon.

Not much going on here the last few days. Seems to be the right time to suffer from a summer minor illness. I hate fever...

Hopefully I'm back in action right in time for the next beta.

I'm still on holiday until the 1st September and I'll propably do lots of things with my family and friends here in Osnabrück. (Just in case you wonder why I haven't started Brimstone 4 yet)

Here's an update on my status. Got permission to study my desired subjects at the University of Bielefeld. Just gotta move there now. 😊

I guess congratulations are in order.

TParis wrote:Here's an update on my status. Got permission to study my desired subjects at the University of Bielefeld. Just gotta move there now. 😊
Congratulations! And in advance: I wish you a lot of fun on hearing "Bielefeld? Bielefeld doesn't really exist" from every person you know...^^

TParis wrote:Here's an update on my status. Got permission to study my desired subjects at the University of Bielefeld. Just gotta move there now. 😊
Congratulations. And Bielefeld? Cool. It's not far from Osnabrück and I also like Bielefeld.

Moving seems to become a trend lately. Yesterday my wife and I decided to move into a bigger house , but this most probably won't affect the amount of time I can spend on testing, as we are going to start moving in late december and it will hopefully only take 2-3 days to get the majority of things from one house to the other. That's the advantage of staying in the same city..

Welcome to the Club. I'll also move in December but I'm going to stay in Vienna. Also, school begins again tomorrow. But I think I still can put lots of time into testing. But it's better if I infrm you just in case I disappear from here.

Thanks guys. 😊

Once I have taken care of signing the contract for my new apartment/room (which shoould be done by end of this week) I should be able to start testing again (at least till I move to Bielefeld on September 24th). Man, I will be glad once I'm done with all this moving stuff..

Done with most stuff now... gonna play-test all the missions I have missed in the meanwhile, starting tomorrow.

Tiny bit out of the loop... catching up now.

Play-Through ongoing... I had to work (night shift) a lot last week, but now I'm catchin' up. Right now I'm in Loki, wanna reach Nephele soon to clone my pilot and test the possible outcomes.

Still working in the field for military duty, but am trying to get more active. Had some installation problems, working through that...almost a good thing, since we know during full release there will be similar issues.

What kind of installation problems?

@Ice, Light, Thor: Any status update?

@TParis: What about those videos you promised? 😊

Alive and Testing

Not much found so far

Have been playing some of the missions again and again but I couldn't find any new issues lately.

Will be inactive for atleast tomorrow till this Saturday because of my move to a new apartment.

So, internet is working perfectly here in Bielefeld. 😊 Also, I brought my second (and still completely working 😂 ) Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro from my parents' house for further WCS testing. Well, okay, gonna visit a pub first this evening with my new room mate. :geek:

I hate to say but I had to cancel testing yesterdays evening. After putting my son to sleep I hoped to give the new missions a second run through and start taking notes while my wife was watching TV, but after 30 minutes my son woke up with a heavy attack of pseudocroup (which you maybe might know from your own childhood... I do. Feels like suffocating) So I spent half the night at a local hospital and I don't know if I will be able to do any testing today because I've got the feeling that I will fall asleep as soon as I'll have the chance to do so and there is the possibility that the little one will have another dose this evening. Either you will find my first posts to the missions this evening or around noon tomorrow. Please bear with me.

Poor kid, how old is he? I myself have 2 year old son. I hope he will get well soon.

KeldorKatarn wrote:@Ice, Light, Thor: Any status update?

@TParis: What about those videos you promised? 😊

Could have sworn I posted an update. It's been a bit crazy for me... I'm on contract at work and my contract is down to a couple of weeks so things are ... uncertain shall we say. Fingers crossed.

I've played two out of the three new missions in the latest release. Need more time with them.

I am back on after unfortunately having much of my game playing/beta testing time over the last 3 to 4 weeks disrupted by various unexpected issues. Sorry for being out of touch.

My intention is to work my way through playing and commenting on the eight missions I have yet to post about, Nephele 1 through Cairo 1. Upon completing that I am going to go start a new profile and play through Brimstone and Vega for the green light process.

In the mean time I am also going to make a couple of post some general comments not related to any of the missions.

I hope to be caught up before the end of the week.

Had to work over the weekend, now I'm back, will start testing the new missions 2day!

KeldorKatarn wrote:@Ice, Light, Thor: Any status update?

@TParis: What about those videos you promised? 😊

Back from a 2 week business trip and am currently downloading the new beta as I type this. I have 1 video from the last beta I can upload.

Back in action. There was a short delay because of some buisiness things which had piled up and I had to take care of. My son is ok again now 😉

@damson My son is 2 years old, too. He's such a cutie 😉 Normally he is at the kindergarten (the city where I live in offers free childcare, even for the younger ones below the age of three) But if he's ill my schedule gets completely messed because my wife and I both are full-time workers.

Had some trouble regarding my old apartment and couldn't continue testing. I'm on it again this evening.

I've begun to greenlighttest Brimstone 1. I need to play it a few more times to complete my report.

Was in the middle of greenlighting the vega missions but had to stop filling out the greelighting tables because of some recent events which have to do with my move into a new house. Our hirer accepted a new tenant and we are able to move into the new home faster than we thought. New date is the last week of november and we had to do some legal stuff the last few days and had to prepare a showing to the new tenant for today. Going to continue greenlighting tomorrow.

I think I am fairly well caught up on the basic beta testing for Beta 9 & 10. As such I am going to be spending this week working on Green Lighting the Brimstone and Vega missions.

I've also finished my first playthrough, and will be moving on to actual testing. I'll also post my thoughts and reactions to the campaign as a whole in another post sometime soon. Videos for the whole playthrough are up, with the exception of Nephele 2, which seems to have some sort of corruption in the original recording. It plays properly, but I haven't been able to successfully compress it yet; I'll keep trying, but I don't have much hope at this point.

Sorry for not being around the last few days. Fell and bruised my ribs and have been on some good drugs that, unfortunately, make me a bit "Spacey" and am now back on the job. Will have reports soon.

Is Google [Bot] a registered user? I noticed it was logged on at the same time I was logged on today? It's color code was white, which does not match any we are using to identify user roles.

Google Bot is a search engine bot.

Exterminator17 wrote:Sorry for not being around the last few days. Fell and bruised my ribs and have been on some good drugs that, unfortunately, make me a bit "Spacey" and am now back on the job. Will have reports soon.

Ouch. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Same from me, wish you a fast recovery.

I'll try to greenlight some more missions over the WE, but I don't have much time due to on-call duty and night shift -.- -.- -.- So plz don't be mad at me if I shouldn't manage to post something new the next few days.

Also same from me. I also wish you a fast recovery. 😊

Bit of an update. I've been forced to reformat and have been slowly reconstituting my PC over the last three days, so I haven't made further progress on green-lighting Vega. I should be fully operational again by the start of next week. Hoping to postpone having to possibly RMA my laptop but I may not have a choice if my disk controller keeps failing and periodically losing my HDDs.

Sorry guys, I hate to say this, but I have to resign from beta testing. It has been a pleasure to work with you guys and an honour to participate in an important part of this project that has been under development for so many years.

The reason is a very good offer of employment that I couldn't refuse, as it is a project with a lot of money in it and I always dreamed of working there (I almost collapsed when I read what it was all about, sorry that this is all I can say about it as there are some NDAs even now). As you might be able to imagine, this will drastically limit my free time as I still want to have some time left for my family. So I won't be of any help to the project.

Again, sorry, but as much as I enjoyed testing and love this game, I have to be fair to you guys and see that it doesn't make any sense to stay in the beta test.

Samheyn signing off....

Samheyn wrote:[...] Samheyn signing off....

No problem there. We totally understand. Good look with your job, and maybe drop by every once in a while to chat 😊 And maybe tell us what your new job is about once the NDAs are lifted 😊

I wish you good luck and lots of fun with your job. I hope that we'll see you again soon. 😊

Best of luck to you Samheyn.

Good luck Samheyn, Hope to see you here again.

Exams start next week so I don't know how much I'll be able to do.

Godspeed, Sammy! Hope you'll have a good time at your new job!!!

I got an invitation to a job interview on friday, so I won't be able to test much as I have to prepare myself. It's kinda same thing Samheyn has, great job with great opportunity, and I don't want to fail, so I'll continue testing in a few days, but not right now.

Hello, i'm terribly sorry how little i could do with testing 😢 I had to deal with a lot of health problems with my parents, and Uni. I'm even surprised i'm still a tester, i'll do the best i can in the next few days to try to catch up a little.

Finally got approval for an RMA, so I'll be without my machine for an unspecified amount of time. I'll check back in once I'm back in order. Hope I get back on the wagon sooner rather than later.

Doing some testing tonight. Canadian holiday weekend last weekend so zero gameplay time (extreme amounts of turkey and beer consumed) but tonight I have the chance to do a little.

I have following Exams at the following dates: 10/17: German 10/24: English 10/27: Geography 11/8: Latin 11/17: Chemistry 11/24: Physics 11/30: History 12/2: Maths 12/7: German 12/16: English 12/19: Latin 12/22: Geography 1/12: Physics 1/18: History

I'll see if I can do some Betatesting between those dates.

As you may know my studies began 2 weeks ago. I am bit busy to get into the new work schedule so I haven't been testing too much lately, sorry. Should be able to start more intensive testing very soon.

Dito for me, a bit buried in university stuff. Will install the new beta and if all goes well, put some hours into it during the weekend.

Played through every new mission in the latest release. Some epic stuff in there. I will now be playing through in detail. Hope to have something for you later.

Sorry guys, I've been quite busy because of a private matter, but now I'm starting to test the new Beta and continue greenlighting.

Will be on a gaming and film festival this weekend, so my time to test will still be limited. :/

I was out for some time, and I only got to fly one playthrough through the new missions in Beta 11 but will move on to greenlighting ASAP. Can't promise anything though as in few days (actually it can happen anytime now) my wife is expected to give birth to our daughter. Hello sleepless nights 😁

Antix wrote:Finally got approval for an RMA, so I'll be without my machine for an unspecified amount of time. I'll check back in once I'm back in order. Hope I get back on the wagon sooner rather than later.

Praise be. My laptop is supposedly repaired and back on its way to me. It should arrive sometime Friday October 28. I'll be back in action assuming everything went well with the repair.

Today at 8:25 my daughter Emilia (Emily) was born. So happy as hell I'm currently unable to do any playtesting. I'll get back to you when things calm dawn a bit (probably a week or more).

Congratulations!

Keldor is taking a break anyway, so the next beta will be delayed by ~2 weeks at the very least.

Congratulations, Damson. How it is to have become a father? 😊

Tolwyn wrote:Congratulations!

A break well deserved at that!

Congrats damson! Wonderful event in your life!

Thanks guys!

FekLeyrTarg wrote:Congratulations, Damson. How it is to have become a father? 😊
Well, Emilia is my second child - first I became a father 2,5 years ago (I have a boy also). But to answer your question FekLeyrTarg - your world gets turned upside down, your priorities change, you have different look on the reality and especially a lot less free time (but after several years you could have your private wingman 😛 ). But to fully understand it you have to become one yourself 😉.

I see. Thank you for the answer. 😉

Congrats! I am a father of 2, an 11yr old Girl and 6yr old boy. My daughter already does Wing Commander 1-3 by herself, so I have a very adept Wing GIRL, as she calls it, to help me with my missions. Nothing better in your life then to become a parent I have found. No personal time left, but they do enrich your life!

On a serious note, I will be having surgery to repair a hernia I have. I will not be able to test after the surgery for a few days, but I also do not know when the surgery will be yet. I think it will be in December, but again, I dont know yet and wanted to let you know ahead of time. But, until that time I am enjoying the betas and trying to beat the stuffing out of the program! I love a Bug Hunt!

Good Luck with the surgery.

I hope you will recover soon, my father already had 3 surgeries for that. Good luck with your surgery.

So, only six weeks late ❓ I finally started playing WCSaga and have completed the first missions. What can I say, I'm hooked 😁 You really nailed the WC feeling: gameplay, soundtrack, mission design, in-flight pilot chatter - it all fits and could have been made by Chris Roberts himself 😊 The only thing I miss, is a pilot lounge, where you can chat with other pilots between missions, but I guess that's simply not possible with the FS Engine and/or would mean a tremendous amount of extra work. I will soon start to give detailed feedback. I've played the first mission as a gamer, tried to get immersed (which was easy) and to beat the missions as good as possible (which was sometimes quite challenging). I'll revisit the missions with a tester's eye and see if I can find any bugs or glitches. 😊 What's left to say for me is a big THANK YOU to all developers and people involved for making this game possible! ➡️

Congrats to the daddy and good luck with the surgery to the other fella. See you all back in space soon.

Just wanted to let you know that I am back. Not sure how the holidays are going to effect things but I should be posting comments about missions this week. Hopefully as soon as tonight if not than by tomorrow.

Welcome back, buddy. Please don't forget to download latest incremental update released a few days ago.

I'm back, had some hardware-related issues that forced me to reinstall my system (Stinger is an SSD-Junkie now 😁 )

I'll drink to that!

I should be able to continue green lighting this week. Damn university keeps me busy as hell.

Hello there. New guy here, learning the ropes. I think it will take me a day or two before I have both read up on the forum and practiced enough on the beta (that I have installed just a few hours ago), so that I can contribute to the beta. Wing Commander Saga is a labour of love and it shows.

We are looking forward to your first impression (yes, all two of us). 😉

I'm back, and currently I'm greenlighting Brimstone missions from Orsini release and will continue on in a steady pace I hope. Nice new main hall music as well as intro music ➡️ . Did the opening/closing doors sound in main hall was added recently, because I don't remember it was there before 🙄 . Today during my playtesting I noticed that you can target subsystems of a fighter - is this correct?

damson wrote:Did the opening/closing doors sound in main hall was added recently, because I don't remember it was there before 🙄

Nope. The sound way always there, the mainhall music used to be louder.

damson wrote:Today during my playtesting I noticed that you can target subsystems of a fighter - is this correct?

Yes

Gah, have to learn more for the next history exam (December 1st) than expected. Haven't managed to test at all the past weeks and have much Green Lighting stuff ahead of me, at least if you want to keep me in the beta testing team. I'm still looking forward to it to testing after the exam though.

The moving date (10th December) gets closer and I still have to do a few tests and exams to do (see timetable on page 11) so I don't know how much I'll be able to do about testing.

I commented that I was back before but then stuff came up again. 😡 This time though I am back and got post and a couple of mantis entires up. I am going to get some more posted tomorrow. After that I am going to be away this coming weekend but will get back to it immediately after I get back.

I will take not be present for a week, while I take care of some things. Best of luck in squashing bugs team.

Maths is done. There are only a few exams and the moving left. I'll see if I can do some greenlighting between those dates.

I'm back, hopefully for a longer period of time than 1-2 days. 😛

I can't promise to being around here over the weekend, but I'll do the best I can.

We're moving to the new flat this saturday. I don't think I'll be able to test until then.

I got back from visiting to my brother in Chicago this past weekend and now it looks like aside from some Christmas holiday preparation I should have plenty of time for the rest of the month to work on beta testing.

I have just downloaded the latest patch for Beta 12 and I will see that I get my comments for the last eight mission of so that I am behind on reviewing posted over the next few days. Then I need to get back to green lighting. (My least favorite part of Beta testing. Shhh! Don't tell anyone.) 😉 😂

I'm sitting currently in an Internet Cafe to let you know that we've moved and that we currently don't have any internet connection so I won't able to write reports. Hopefully I'll have it back in 1 or 2 weeks.

As things currently stand, I plan on taking all of next week off from work. Amongst other things, I will be able to continue my second run through all of the green light missions...and if the manual is ready for another round of edits, I should have time to do that as well.

For all the other testers, pay attention to the star system descriptions, and let the developers know if you find items in the text or graphics that needs to be fixed.

I'm back from several weeks of being out of town (read: away from any computer I can play WCSaga on), so I should be back to beta-testing over the next few weeks. I'll try to catch up with the newer missions as best I can, but the "several hours a week (http://wcsaga.com/news-archive-2011/apply-for-the-closed-beta-test.html)" I signed up for has so far proved woefully insufficient to keep pace with missions getting released to the green-light threads. If you guys really only need your "final five" who can give you several hours a day, then maybe I've outlasted my usefulness; otherwise, I'll keep plugging away as best I can in the time I have.

We need every bit of feedback we can get. Not JUST the final five.

Any feedback is highly appreciated. Problem is that we did not receive much feedback from the last round of beta invites - nearly zero sums it up nicely. Now, we understand that quite a few people might want to get their hands on a copy of a game early (I'd do almost anything to play Mass Effect 3 now), but that is not exactly what we had in mind. It does reflect my experiences with the Prologue beta - however, Prologue was a small game compared to "The Darkest Dawn" and we can't test the game on our own.

I find it sad to see the list of testers in the greenlight report thread. There are so few people who actually participated in the greenlighting process so far... Sometimes it takes me several hours to test a feature of a mission properly, but even the first - easy to test - missions are on N/A status for months now. I wish more people would take the testing seriously, especially now in the final phase of the project. I'm very sorry for that.

Like we said times and again - every bit of feedback you can provide helps us to produce an enjoyable game. We really need your support, guys!

Back from the holiday craziness... time for some testing soon!

We should have a new beta ready for you on Sunday/Monday 😉 Four fresh new missions with a lot of goodies 😊

It's taking quite some time to test missions like Nephele 2 with combinations of winning/losing paths and ships appearing/not appearing depending on the former mission... but the circle is almost complete... 🙄 Hopefully I'll be through with the last batch of missing green lights till then. Can't wait to play the new missions 😊

KeldorKatarn wrote:We should have a new beta ready for you on Sunday/Monday 😉 Four fresh new missions with a lot of goodies 😊

Might be five actually, if I am not mistaken.

Oops, right ^^ Ah well, we COmputer Scientists don't need to be able to count. We have computers for that.

School has caught up again but I'll see that I test as much as I can until the semester holidays.

I'm back and am in the process of downloading the newest beta. I'll resume testing shortly.

Welcome back!

Okay, everyone I got my post on the latest beta's missions as well as some questions posted so now I will turn to my status. I am sorry that I sort of disappeared on all of you. Unfortunately in addition to all the other Christmas time chaos I also had my father in the hospital with pneumonia again and my grandfather had a heart attack and is in hospice now. As such I just have not had time to keep up with testing properly like I had planed to.

I think things are settling down now and and as such I was able to post about the latest Beta. I will try and stay on top of things for the last two missions and the updated prologue campaign. No promises however.

I should be able to start testing again on Saturday or Sunday.

Been away doing work and being sick with a cold...but I think this weekend I will have some time to blast away some responses to the missions and do some writing to boot. Fingers crossed!

I'm not sure if I'm able to test over the weekend, but I'll try.

Gaming rig death and new job = lacking of Beta time. Really love WC Saga, I died a little inside when lightning took out my gaming rig mid-partol mission 😢 Attempting to install on lesser workstaion machine "acquired" from work, hope vid card is up to snuff.

I said in my last status update on the 16th that my Grandfather was in hospice. He has since died and the funereal is Wednesday the 25th. After that I should be fully free of any distractions from beta testing. It should be a good diversion from other thoughts.

As such starting Thursday the 26th I will be ready for the finale Beta, the updated Prologue, and will get to work on catching up on the green lighting process. That is unless there is something else that you want me to focus on?

Sorry about your grandfather Light. Maybe just play the new missions for fun for now? Just to distract yourself a little bit? We'll get back to polishing everything soon enough.

Light,

I'm truly sorry about the loss of your grandfather. My grandfather suffocated to death when I was at OCS, it really put me in a funk for a while, because I saw him right before I left and he wanted to see his firstborn grandson become a Navy officer.

Take care man and remember that this is a time in which you need the support of your family and friends. We're behind you. Give us a shout if you need any assistance.

Nick

My condolences, Light. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

Please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of your grandfarther, Light. What a terrible, shocking situation. I can't imagine how you feel.

Thanks for the condolences everyone.

He was 95, would have been 96 in July, born in 1916 and a WWII veteran. As such we were expecting it, once he started to go he just went a bit more quickly than we anticipated.

My condolences Light, my grandfather was also WWII veteran. Unfortunately I never knew him as he passed away before I was born. I always admired his medals and thought about the stories which he could have told me if he was alive. One consolation is that you knew your grandfather in person. Take care and support your family.

Everything for my grandfather's funeral is over with. I just came on to check on the release status of the latest beta. As such I am now downloading Beta-15-setup as I type this. Barring any unexpected real life interference I should hopefully have some comments to post sometime tomorrow.

Having exams next week (Tuesday and Thursday), so don't expect too much feedback from me the next 3-4 days.

Done with the exams!

TParis wrote:Done with the exams!
I hope you passed or at least have a good feeling about it?

Guys, The funeral took a little more out of me than I expected but I am ready to be back at it. I have played, but have yet to complete, the last two missions. I expect to have that done and comments posted within the next 24 hours. Yell at me if I don't.😉

Now I know that this is a busy time with getting WC:SAGA ready for release. As such what exactly do you need me to do to help you out over the next 30 days? Assign me a task. 😊

Hmmm.... if you haven't you might want to play the final mission set first...

Tolwyn wrote:Hmmm.... if you haven't you might want to play the final mission set first...

Already playing them and they are endurance matches. I am still trying to survive them. It looks like it is going to take me a bit longer than I thought to get through them. Still impressive though. 😎

Stinger wrote:I hope you passed or at least have a good feeling about it?
It was like okayish. The last exam was somewhat different than expected (and announced by the lecturer's secretary). Most of my fellow students were pretty pissed off.

Another condolence for your loss Light, mine was a WWII Vet as well but passed long before reaching 96, more like 76. Cherish the years you were able to know him.

In other news, seems like my stand-in gaming rig plays WCsaga just fine. Aside from me having to dial back the graphics a bit and make it back to where I was in the game. Gotta love a total loss PC crash.

Space Combat sims are my absoulte #1 guity pleaure and its a shame the genre has had such a steep decline since the days of the orginal WC series. I just have to say that everytime I grip wth flight stick on this game it takes me back to the 90's during the first times I played the Wing Commander series. Its a prefect blend of nostalic feel and true to form design with modern updated graphics. I wish all "revamping" work to some of my other favorite games went 1/2 this well. It is truly and awesome acheivement you've all created, my contribution may be nill but the gratitude is there all the same.

Side note - Maybe my skills have waned in the passing years, but I don't remember getting my arse whipped this much back in the day.... Then again i'm not one to admit defeat and turn the difficulty down either.

Always remember that you don't need to find bugs to contribute. Give us your feedback for every mission you play, how you liked it, how it felt. Also check on reported bugs on the mission and confirm either their presence or that they have been fixed, and also report that you haven't found any other bugs. The absense of bugs IS worth reporting.

I think it is time to present myself. In few words: I am 46, two kids (13 and 16 yo), software dev in the security field and a video game junkie.

Keldor was saying that we can report finding no bugs, ok. There is one thing I want to say about this : through extensive playing and testing (about 5 or 6 campaing runs) I encountered only one crash. So I can say that the game is damn rock stable.

I want also to praise the green lantern process. I start as an amateur tester, found few issues but I found that GLing the missions is so much efficient. I guess that many issues would have been stay undiscovered. As you have more work to fix more issues, I ask to myself is that a kind of masochism somewhere ? 😉

I would also like to share my feeling about the sound environment : great ! I am not only talking about the music (wow!) but also of all the sound, comm voices, afterburner, ships passing near, weapons and missiles... It's a recent discover for me, I have start the test using only external speakers. Good ones but they can't match with headphones. I first use headphones to verify a word in a voice-over comm and then... I release what I was missing.

Green Lanterning missions from M21 to M42 took me a lot of time (damn Nephele 1+2 !) and it's hard to wait for the last ones :p

Keldor, Tolwyn, I want to thank you for the opportunity you have given me to test and contribute to such a beautiful game. I will be going in to surgery tomorrow and hopefully coming out a new man. At that time I will have my computer setup in my bed and plan to play the snot out of Beta 15. Again, Thank you for this chance and I hope to contribute even more in the following weeks.

Exterminator17

Just for the little story :

At the end of my previous post, I was thinking again about Nephele 2 and the GreenLantern. I check the GL page and saw the bottom line : "Ships: Spartan-class". Then I think : I spend a lot of time checking all the mission paths so I am not sure to have checked the techroom entry.

And bingo : I find an error in the spartan text. And bingo : as it was the second time I find this kind of error, I check all the Ships.tbl file and find 4 other errors. Guess what : I check other table files and find errors. So much I am not so confident about my english level: http://mantis.wcsaga.com/view.php?id=1158

I wasn't able to read all the texts yet - it's quite a challenge to play all paths and check for errors at the same time, and now that we have the new batch of missions, it'll take some time for me to read them all. In addition to that, I will move from Bielefeld to Dortmund between 22nd and 28th of February, so I have to pack a lot of crap which is cutting my spare time -.-

I wouldn't worry aboout that too much. We should have nailed most of the typos by now.

Still, the more eyes the better.

Sorry I am about five days late in commenting about the Oberan beta. I have been trouble shooting a problem with my gaming computer that has taken me four days to resolve. 😡 Everything appearers to be back in order now. Off to post comments on the Oberan missions. 😊

Go, Light, go! 😊

Guys, I'll be occupied with moving the next days so I won't be able to test that much. hopefully I'll find the time to read the next fiction parts soon

I've finally managed moving to my new home and I'm back for business 😊

As a heads up, I've just posted the last of my "first-flythrough" videos; the entire campaign is there (with the exception of the one mission where the video got corrupted).

Recently I haven't had much time to playtest due to personal reasons but as soon as I deal with the matters at hand I will gladly go back to test the RC which I'm currently downloading.

I don't know how much I'll be able to test since I have a test in physics this week, a german and an english exam next week and a maths exam in the week after next week.

I am going to hijack this thread to congratulate myself on my graduation. I still can't believe that I am holding my diploma in my hands right now. Now, where do I get that blasted "mission accomplished" banner?

Congratulations. 😊

Everyone I am so sorry to have to say this. My gaming computer is in the shop! 😡

It seem that though I solved one of the problems I was having a couple of others have since cropped up and these problems are ones that I have not been able to fix on my own. I was forced to take it in and have the professionals work on it.

I am posting this from my laptop. I do not think I will be able to do testing from it. I bought it for university class work and so I had it configured as a document processing and web browsing platform. As such it purposely has minimal gameplaying capability. 😢

Edit:

Missed this when I posted. Congadulations! I know what that is like getting that diploma after all of that hard work. ➡️

Hey, congrats Anton!!!

A big congratulations to you! Hard earned! You've got a finished WC:Saga and a diploma in hand. Your life will be empty going forward 😁

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Congratuations 😊

I'm going to be on holiday from today until the 9th April.

Congratulations on getting your diploma.

I know how hard it is to work toward a diploma while working full time PLUS, so again, congratulations.

Hey guys, what's up with the beta forums? Is there a new one and I missed it, or are you all busy with reading through the public forum? 😊 I destroyed (yeah, I mean destroy) my knee once again last week, and so I was in surgery yesterday. That's the reason for my recent radio silence.

That's a real shame. Get better soon, you hear!?

Here is a little treat to keep you entertained: full WCS OST.

Niiice, I'm feeling much better now! Thanks 😉

I see the beta forum is almost dead... , back to matters at hand - I was going for the new playthrough on my new notebook with Win7 and Radeon6850M GPU and even got through few missions with debris patch but lately have so little time that I cannot spare any for WCSaga (my new flat is being finsihed right now and me with my family will be moving there next week or so, lots of formalities to be taken care of). With the little time I had left I promised myself after the release of WCS to finally install Falcon BMS 4.32 which came out almost year ago (due to beta testing I haven't really got time to fly this - and if you are familiar with Falcon 4 and it's addons you know that you have to spent a lot of time RTFM not to mention flying it correctly 😉 ). I'm still reading the Saga novel (mostly on night shifts at work when I have the time - don't tell my boss 😁 ) and currently am half way through it (it's great BTW). I can promise I get back to testing new stuff when I'm able - probably at the end of June. I saw that the generic cockpits are planned to be added - that will be a treat, looking forward to it.

@Stinger - nice to hear you are well, take care.

I'm in a similar position; it's the end of the semester, and I've got stacks of papers to grade and no time to grade them. I'm working on the novel as well, but it's very slow going, because I'm trying to do detailed proofreading and editing as I go. The trouble is, that makes it feel an awful lot like grading papers, which means it's not a very good break from my real work 😉

Anyway, I should have more time in a month or so, but until then, I'll likely be pretty quiet.

Same here. School caught up again and I've got lots of tests and exams coming, so I won't be able to test much.

I'm not in school or preparing for school, but my job travel schedule has been keeping me pretty well tied up. Anyone know what the total count of game downloads is now?

Glad to see that the Saga crew is still kicking, in one way or the other.

As for me, I've been notified that a top-ranked academic program is offering me virtually a full ride scholarship (combo of university merit-based scholarship and US military funding) for my MBA (Masters in Business Administration for short). Flying jets, nearly getting killed, and wrapping up a tour as an Air Ops officer for an Admiral's strategic planning staff has taken a physical and emotional drain on me. I've gotten a really laid back billet lined up for me to continue my military duties so I can still promote and get paid (should be putting on Lt. Commander in about 3-4 years), but looking forward to taking a break as a student once again. MBA programs are expensive nowadays, over $100,000 US dollars. Glad I don't have to pay a single fucking penny!

I should be a bit more active in the forum nowadays and beyond.
