Cutscenes
Now that we have reached half time, let's talk about cutscenes you have watched those far. Please comment if you have any thoughts, issues or spam emails. 😂
Well, I liked the cutscenes I saw so far. They had a very dense WC atmosphere that just feels right. For my taste, however, I'd prefer a few scenes with a bit more action (but I guess you guys are planning some of these, eh?). I just love rendered battle sequences; most of the time you are pulling the trigger yourself, but in a cutscene you have more time to lean back and enjoy the outstanding visuals - like watching Star Wars 😁
We will not have any cutscenes of battle. First of all that's what the gameplay is for and second of all that is outside of ANYONE without a Tripple-A budget.

So far, I think the cut scenes are excellent. What I would like to see added is Sandman watching ICN news periodically and getting information a little information on the war as a whole. Granted, in the opening cut scene, Sandman is lamenting the fact that there is no truth in the news and no news in the truth. If we can tie WC Saga into the overall game story through news and other things, I think it will add to the richness and pull back a lot of memories for Wing Commander junkies.
This thread was not about "what cutscenes would you like to have" (we will not and cannot add anything additional), but about "what do you think of the existing ones"

They have a very nice optical quality. Also, the scenes give the player the original WC-feeling, cause they are held in the same style the WC3 cutscenes were. (In case of the Kinney memorial service it was more WCP style, of course 😉) imho you don't need to fear that some people won't like them. I wonder what is yet to come 😊
Yes, the cutscenes have been well done. So far I haven't noticed any flaws but I'll let you know if I find any.

Aside from things mentioned by me in topic here, the only thing I don't like is the Terran pilot's helmet model. It looks kind of weird, cartoonish. Everything else is outstanding (even for commercial release). 3x ➡️
I'm loving all the cutscenes actually 😁 Especially the briefings. They give the game a very WC1-ish feel in their editing style. ➡️

Running the cut scene at the beginning of the green test, I saw a couple of things that may or may not be issues:
1. On board the carrier, when Capt Moran is addressing the attacking fighters, his image has a line in the back of his head...maybe it is a hair part, but it looks strange.

2. As the shuttle is flying past the moon, the moon's rotation on the fly by is jumpy.
3. The last sentence before switching to the Brimstone 1 mission ends with the words "front lines", the "s" in lines was cut off too quickly, can that be retimed?
I'll second both the thought that the flight helmets don't seem to fit the aesthetic of the rest of the cutscene, and the fact that the end of the campaign intro cutscene seems to happen a fraction of a second too early, seeming to cut off the dialog. Other than that, the intro cutscene looks good.

Could you please elaborate: does the sequence end too early or are you refering to the "fade to black" effect utilized in the sequence?
The visual "fade-to-black" is fine. The issue is with the audio. The final spoken line is "welcome to the front line," and the issue is that the last syllable of "line" is clipped before it naturally fades to silence. It almost sounds as though the spoken word might have been "lines", but was chopped off before the "s" could be heard. I just watched the cutscene 4 times in a row, and it happened the same way each time. If it's not replicable other places, I can capture and upload a video if you'd like.
Ah that... That is common for placeholder audio - our comm filter tends to cut off certain sylables, like 's'. It will be fixed in the final version.

Better late than never, I just wanted to say that the Terran pilots in the comm view looked weird to me because of the stretching (I play at 16:10 aspect ratio) and after the wide-view HUD fix it looks fine.
