Briefing Room Ship and Load-Out Options

Forum ▸ Miscellaneous

In the briefing room, the upper left menu appears to allow a pilot to select a ship and weapons load out. Those options have not been available in the beta versions, will they become available in the non-beta versions?

You will be able to select your missiles after the Torgo mission arch.

I wonder if it could have anything to do with Sandman beeing promoted later on ? 😊

I don't have to explain anything to you guys, you are too good. 😉

I'm assuming at one point ship selection will be an option too? 😁

(if so, what rank will Sandman need to be?)

You will never be able to choose your ship, sorry. The missions are too ship-specific in design. Also the entire ship selection of wc3 and 4 was ridiculously unrealistic in my eyes anyway.

That makes quite a lot of sense from multiple perspectives... Mission specificity not withstanding, you're also flying with a particular squadron. Also: You'd be stealing/borrowing a spare ship and stuff. I was just wondering 😁

Saga does support the ship selection screen, so mods will be able to use it, but we simply won't give the player any ship choices, so he cannot change anything in that screen, just look at the ship stats.

In WC3 it might have made some sense for Blair to fly different ships, being the wing commander (Ranger does this too sometimes in Saga, but he's not moonlighting as a squadron commander), but in wc3 you flew different ships with the entire squadron, and that was just nuts. Wc1, 2 and Prophecy were much more realistic in that part.

Ship selection is indeed a feature for a free trader or freelancer game. I didn't even expect it to be in WCSaga. WC3 was the most unrealistic game concerning the matter of ship selection. WC4, on the other hand, is a different matter (with the exception of the missions flown of the lexington). The Intrepids captain and most of the high ranking officers were dead, the chain of command remained unclear and most of the game blair seemed to be in charge of the whole ship. You also have to consider that the Intrepid didn't get any fighter replacements or spare parts for damaged ones so that flying some of the stuff that remained on the flight deck would make some sense here.

I think some of the fighter decisions actually made sense. For example, I preferred the Banshee instead of a Bearcat. Two similar ships with different positive and negative aspects as loadout, turn rates and firepower/range. It's not bad at all, that you decided against a ship selection, but sometimes I found it great...

I preferred the banshee over most other fighters for some reason. It just looks so bad-ass 😁 Which reminds me... Will there be any border world ships fighting alongside the Hermes battle group?

No, the union of borderworlds doesn't exist in this timeframe, they are a part of the Confederation and there is only one Confed Space Force and Navy.

alrighty 😊
