Would say, just let Cheats stay in Final...for Beginners

Hi all,

I would say, just let the Cheat Opstions stay in the Final of WC Saga. Most of us are highly trained Wing Commander Players, but Saga gets promoted on many Sites and many Articles...

For Beginners some Missons can be big Frustation. So...just let the Opstion in the Soucecode. I would not "Promote" the Cheats much on the WC Saga Page...but they belong to FreeSpace 2 Engine. For the Beginners...let them stay.

Greetings

Frank

If missions are frustrating on easy then report this to us. Cheats are meant for testing purposes, not to hide bad balancing.

As for those other sites and articles... We are not really interested in reaching any kind of "mass market". If some kids out there are actually frustrated by the game because it doesn't take them by the hand as any current AA game we have actually made our point. This game is for fans and for people who like a challange (actually in our oppinion this game is ridiculously easy but what the hec), not for the mass media target audience. This game is not meant to appeal to everyone.

Plus, as the beta test has shown, it is very easy to break mission flow if cheats are used.

Exactly. For example... a player might just decide to destroy the Wratgar on the first encounter. Or destroy all the bombers in M28.

Also, the cheats have caused crashes for me, in an engine that is otherwise very stable. It's not worth the debugging effort it would take to fix it.

To sum it up, the game is easy to beat on "very easy". A small table modification can enable auto targeting or increase shield or armor hp. That should do, if somebody finds the game frustrating.

In a day and age when everything seems to be handed to kids, I think it is appropriate not to have cheats for normal play. Teach kids to earn their way...to work for the end result...and yes, life can be frustrating at times, but if you persevere the rewards are always much better. Goes back to the old adage, if at first you don't succeed, try and try again.

This game is not that hard...but yeah, there are some difficult missions, but what better way to learn tactics and strategy.

Has anybody tried Dark Souls for PS3/Xbox 360?. Now that is a challenging game. No cheats available and that is exactly what makes it such an outstanding experience - there is a sense of achievement to anything you do in that game.

Reminds me on Battletoads... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idZ9C0Qtj2A

Nice! Dark Souls is prettier though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCsWHNf99xM 😉

I think I played the game for approx. 200 hours in total in addition to working on my thesis, Saga and my freelancer contracts. No wonders I am not getting enough sleep. 😉

Not really my style of game but nice graphics 😊 Well, sleeping is only lost time, I hate it... only thing that's worse is getting up 😉
