Direct Sound won't Initialise was created by geeksquared
Hi Guys,

I've got what I think is a bug. I'm running the game on a fully updated version of Windows 7 Enterprise and when I start it up I get an error message telling me Direct Sound won't initialise and asking me to close any programs that might be running in the background.

I've closed everything I can think of that that could concievably be interfering with Direct Sound and its made no differnce. Any ideas?

This may be a long shot, but you could try to restart your Audio Service.
Either in the service overview (services.msc), in which it is called "Windows-Audio" in my German Win7 installation, or via an elevated command line prompt (elevated meaning with admin rights), by typing "stop AudioSrv" and then "start AudioSrv".

Your feedback is much appreciated. Have you installed OpenAl? Have you tried installing our first patch?
