Joystick not working

I can't get my joystick working in game. The launder detects it just fine (Saitek X-45) but when I get in game and try to rebind commands in the options it is not detecting any of the stick buttons or axises. The stick works fine in regular Freespace Open and is being picked up correctly in Windows 7.

edit: oh sorted it out myself by looking through the forums (gamepad support thread). I changed the CurrentJoystick registry entry from 1 to 2 and launched the game directly instead of through the launcher and now it works fine. Weird. The only thing I can think why this is happening is because I had my XBox 360 controller also plugged in when I first started the launcher, and then unplugged it whilst selecting the Saitek in the launcher options. Perhaps this confused the game? Anyway, all fine now. Cheers.
