As an avid Space Combat Sim gamer I couldn't figure out why I never was a WC follower. This game and story line is awesome. I see that WC4 is being re-released and it also does not have Multiplayer option. Did any of the WC series have this option or am I just wishing for something that will never happen? I do enjoy playing alone sometimes but the fellowship I have had for over 12 years with the same Flight Squad, Alpha Strike Force, has endured mostly due to being able to fly with your buddies to a common goal. While I will finish this game and may fly it a few times, I will continue to search for a Space Sim game that again keeps the dream alive.
I believe that the only WC game with multi-player was Wing Commander:Armada but I have never been able to get that game to play. Wing Commander:Prophecy was planned to have a multi-player capability, I remember it being mentioned in an advertisement video, but it was not included when the game was released. You have to remember that over half the Wing Commander games were released before the massive growth and commercialization of the World Wide Web that started occurring c.1995-96.

Funny you mentioned all the titles above. I still have Starlancer loaded and on the weekends a few of my friends get together and play all 24 of those missions. We started as a Xwing VS Tie Fighter Squadron back in 1998 and played that until Microsoft shut down "The Zone". We have also played both Free Space games until PIO shut down.
The game play in your Wing Commander game is so superior to those above in Graphics, Story, and mission play that I can't hardly play them. Since no server would be needed if it was a peer to peer game that allowed say 4-6 players, there would be no cost to you or EA to play TCP/IP. Computers have come a long way as the internet speed. We played Xwing vs Tie Fighter over a 14.4 and 28.8 modems. I do thanks you for your interest in this. Stoney Out
