Here's a list of tools used by the Saga team during the development process:

  • ANI Builder - Create ANI in-game animations.
  • ANI View - Playback ANI in-game animations.
  • FRED - Wing Commander Saga mission editor. You can download documentation here and the autopilot template here.
  • MODEL View - This very versatile program that lets you see the Wing Commander Saga ships without running the game.
  • POF Construction Suite - This tool is used by the Wing Commander Saga team to convert finished models to the POF format used by the game. The latest beta version can be aquired here.
  • POF exporter for MAX - A POF export plugin for 3D Studio MAX R4/R5/R6.
  • VP Mage - Build, edit and view .VP files used by the game.
  • VP View - Take a look at Wing Commander Saga resource files.
