so normally all you see is a HUD unless you play in external view (no idea how anybody could stomach that XD but it's nice to have to take a look around). I suppose there just might not be any cockpit graphical content at all. But was there ever going to be? Over the past decade of development time, have there BEEN cockpit models that are just... not included?

...and may I see them? I love looking at that stuff. If the art exists, it deserves to be appreciated.

Thanks for asking. Cockpits were planned at one point. The ones we created were utilized in our cgi cutscenes.

Yea,

Game is awesome. But what i'm missing it's cockpits. If that think devs put in the game, that will be outstanding game.

Cockpits, cockpits needs :)

That will not happen sorry. But maybe someone will do a mod for that. Don't expect more than cockpit struts though. Functional cockpits are not supported by this engine which is why we had to cut them.

Devs - Do you made any cockpit models yet? I saw u worked with Longbow few years ago.
It's any possibility to reprogram the FS code to put cockpit models with working panels? it's easy to do that modification?

It is possible to have working panels. One of the SCP programmers has done a lot of work on this but so far the only one that works is DRADIS in the unreleased Battlestar Galactica game.

At the moment WCS and the standard SCP FS2_Open engine are incompatible. But once the SCP get their hands on the WCS source code, that could change.

Actually FSO had 3D-cockpits, that looked rather...well curious together with TrackIR. Unfortunately the textures used for this cockput-model always came from the base model of the fighter. And since these were never meant to be looked at from such a close position...hideous. :D

As far as "cockpit struts" goes the modders succeeded though. THIS looks amazong. It's a flat model, but it reacts to lighting and even features a typical head up display glass front which was transparent.

I used it through several campaigns, had to assign it to some ships manually by adding them to the tables and had to modify the positions of most of the HUD elements manually as well, since the original mod only supported 16:9 resolutions and I play with 16:10.

If someone could fit this into WC Saga it would be a step into the right direction. Maybe not perfect, since the cockpit is modelled after the typical Freespace cockpit and many fans might associate it with that game and not with WC. ;)
