I don't believe this.. I got frustrated and installed the fix, then I actually complete the mission...

I get a black screen and the voice over of a funeral or w/e starts....still black screen then the sound cuts off... Program freezes... :x

I have to replay the mission... There are no words for the rage I feel right now :?:

edit: I removed the "fix" for the cloak times just to be safe and was able to make it past this time....No lockup/crash etc.. whew.

I think the best advice for this mission really is to park yourself a little over halfway between the BattleAxe and the Corvetts. That way you are close to any skipper that is decloaking; just slam on B (or whatever key you use for bombers/missles) and the second you acquire a skipper, head for it with afterburner and take it out.. Even if you overshoot and have to chase it, just turn around and even if its cloaked hit AB and then Glide for a short while. But make sure you don't run all the way back to the Battleaxe or you will be too far when the skipper decloaks.

I have another problem I think I missed up my radar map. I can only see dots and contacts on my radar when I'm really close. How do I increase the range of my radar?

Mind you, this will not be part of future updates.

My installe doesn't have a missions folder. Do I create one and put it in there?

Hey,

finished Nifelheim 2 this morning upon second run.

Indeed, parking 10000-15000 away from the Battleaxe is the trick. Get down the first skipper with an ImRec.

Then I burned towards the Corvette. Assisted the wing in taking them down. Pressing B in motion to check for skippers. Took them down shortly after launch.

If I would missed one at that point I decided to burn back to the Battleaxe and hope to get lucky to get it in range again for an ImRec. Luckily this wasn't needed.

I was dreading coming to this level... Turns out I was right. Fuck I hate the game mechanics right now. I love them any other day of the week, but when fiat gets pulled for storytelling, it's ALWAYS going to sting -_- I'm sitting here in autoglide at max velocity, using external cam range scan to watch the battle up close and personal. I see fucking DARKETS taking MULTIPLE HITS from capship point defense batteries and shrugging it off, and I see our own goddamn capships dropping IMMEDIATELY from 43% integrity FULL SHIELDS to zero, because they're scripted to die right then. CHRIST it pisses me off.

But what can you do.

All I'm saying is, when you see the game itself OBVIOUSLY cheating, you -kinda'- want to cheat back just a little bit. I might just do a little hacking with the cheating engine and let y'all see how to do some "automatically scripted invulnerability" of your own :p

I'm sure that it won't be extremely hard to identify the data values for the hull integrity of the TCS battleaxe. Or maybe I'll just find the cloaking variable for the skippers and knock that out, if there are any of you who want to turn this fight into an undisputable CURB STOMP after beating it legit for cathartic reasons.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. However, that is how a number of "modern" games (Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc) work.

Its true.. This is pretty much necesarry for games to do with scripted events, otherwise the mechanics would end things way too fast.

However it was interesting to note, on my final successful attempt, when I jumped into the nav point, I left it at max throttle w/out gliding to make sure I didn't come back with a failed mission when I finished my cigarette, and while the script progressed to a point (the Tinney would not die until I hit a certain distance) all the other wings had entered the battle zone and all but 3 or 4 of them had died, while the enemy ships all had full health.

Of course I promoptly rectified that situation once I entered the battle zone, but still; not complaining, I just found it odd.

Hmm, I made this mission upon 2nd try and had no trouble with the scripted story.

Nor I felt cheated about the skipper missiles. I took them fairly easy down in the end.

I'm not saying it's not necessary. It's definitely necessary. It's also infuriating. Necessary and infuriating.

Edit: Well, Once i figured out exactly what to do, it went a lot smoother and I didn't even need to hack. My wingmen had to take out the corvettes, but once I snuck a peek at the actual velocity of the skippers (it was 800) it was easy to close up behind one as it cloaked, point myself at the Battleaxe, match speed manually with bursts of the afterburner while auto-gliding, and they'd decloak with the muzzle of my laser canons practically lodged up their ass.

It was so satisfying once I figured out their little game :3 so again, well done WCS team.

Well dang. Now I have three bronze stars, a silver star, and about 8 ribbons... You've done a fine job of awarding accomplishments ^_^
