There's also a key for doing the same with subsystems (eg. comms, weapons, sensors, engines). There's a third key for targetting the turret or subsystem that's under the reticle (i.e. the one you're aiming at).

I'm having an absolute blast playing this on very easy and seeing the plot unfold. Plan on replaying through on higher-level difficulties for the challenge.

Quick question: If you replay a single mission in the simulator, and meet the requirements for a medal in the mission, can you earn the medal via the simulator? I suspect the answer is no, and I'll have to keep replaying the mission via campaign if I want the medal, but, rather ask than assume. (Hyperion 4 comes to mind namely).

Thanks.

Your suspicion is accurate, the simulator does not give you credit for kills or medals, it is designed to help you practice a mission, to refine your flying skills, and to try out different fighting theories to determine their probability for success. The simulator is also present to allow you to refly your favorite mission (or possibloy your most hated mission) without having to reload the campaign.

Some missions can be *really* hard at higher-level difficulty. So keep in mind that you can always change the level before replaying a campaign mission.

Yup, it's what I call the "Slaying Ravana effect". Slaying Ravana was a FS2 mission of average difficulty on easy (and possibly medium), but became ridiculously difficult when played on insane.

So far there must have been 4-5 mission for which I had to turn down the difficulty (though in some cases it was more because I grew frustrated because of the length of the mission).
