Ship Classification Discrepancy

Im on my 3rd playthrough and one of those nuggets of information i had long forgotten has resurfaced to make me pose this question....I noticed that the Ranger-class has been renamed to the Yorktown-class.... any particular reason for this?

Yes, the "Ranger" was only a fan madeup name for the class. The latest wing commander game, that console arcade game, had a manual with lots of nice info, including the official name for this class of carrier: "Yorktown" So we renamed it to stick with the official names.
