It was almost as ham-fisted and out of place as The Witcher 2's Lord of the Rings reference. [spoiler:1s8qbhy8]Not to mention totally clashing with the tone set earlier. Remember a prior mission when your wing was ordered to stand down and watch the destruction of a cap ship which screamed and begged for your help? What was it they said? Something like "For god's sakes, this ship has 10,000 people on it!" Yeah. The Kinny probably had a similar number. Viking is on the verge of tears and you're trying to stifle a giggle. Maybe when the Confed planet got virus bombed, Assassin and Ninja should have said "it's as if a million voices cried out and were suddenly silenced", possibly brofiving each other afterwards.[/spoiler:1s8qbhy8]

I really think Darkest Dawn is something special, and the Kinny reference doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as the fan's reaction to it. Why do you love it so?!

I thought it was executed exceptionally, right up until the part where they said Monsters instead of Bastard(s)

That totally killed the moment and the joke for me

It's worth a chuckle, but it really seemed like a cheap-shot, especially in the context of the moment.

one of my favorite parts about this game is the pop-culture references. i basically saw this one from 60000 or so clicks away(i might replay it later to get a more accurate count) my favorites were [spoiler:1c8y3bz9]the Hermes engineer, and M.D.[/spoiler:1c8y3bz9]

Wait, I didn't see anything about the Hermes engineer, and I'm not big on pop culture, so is M.D. supposed to be like House or something?

Only shows how little you know about the Witcher. THe Witcher was all about referencing old stories and farytales, and I thought puttng in a reference to a more modern farytale was just perfect because it simply fits that tendency of the Witcher books.
